Hi all
Just wondered if anyone of you could throw some advice at me on how to swim slowly,as every time i get into the pool i end up splashing off pretty much as fast as i can after only a couple of lengths,i try all the time to keep to a slow steady pace but cant and always have to have a small breather after about 400 meters,im training for the GSR and looking to do triathlon next year so have to improve the swim part as the bike and run side is fine just wondered if any of you could help seeing as alot of you seem to swim too
many many thanks
Matty

Hi, this might sound a bit daft but I used to totally knacker myself out and had no idea how to pace myself until one day I decided to change swim lanes. If your pool does lane sessions and they have a fast, medium and general then drop into a slower lane, it forces you to slow your stroke down or you will batter the person in front! You can always move up into a faster lane again but it might help you get a feel for going slower and how many strokes you do in a length. HTH Claire

Comments are probably a bit late but my pool does an adult swim training with a coach. I joined about 2 years ago and no longer drown after 2 lenghts of front crawl.
